Do you hear the people sing - Les Miserables

Let me put all my biases on the table:

I am a HUGE Hugh Jackman fan : every single "X-men" movies, "Boy from Oz" ( I screamed "I love you, Hugh" at the end of the Broadway play), got giddy watching him on "Kate & Leopold" and "Someone Like You".

Les Miserables was the first Broadway play I saw. And then I watched it 3 more times with my parents and children. (I even enjoyed watching the non-musical movie version with Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman)

I admire Russell Crowe's acting abilities. Aside from "Gladiator", which I've seen over and over, I truly love his performances in "Cinderella Man" and "The Beautiful Mind".

Anne Hathaway, ah yes, who doesn't want to be like Anne Hathaway? From "Princess Diaries", to "The Devil Wears Prada", from "Love and Other Drugs" to "Dark Knight Rises". She's an elegant actress -- full of emotions and makes everything looks so effortless.

I first watched Amanda Seyfriend in "Mama Mia" and was impressed by her acting and singing abilities.

And of course, Eddie Redmayne. Who would forget his stellar performance in "Pillars of the Earth?"

Now, let's talk about my fascination for the sound track from "Les Miserables".

The magic of Les Miserables is in its musical score. I believe that when you watch a Broadway play, you can tell the show is a hit is when the audience comes out humming the tunes from the show. After seeing the play for the first time, I heard myself (and the other millions who watched the show, too) singing the tunes. Who wouldn't remember the catchy tunes from beginning to the end? And of course, every girl I knew sang "On my Own" and "I Dreamed A Dream" at least once in their life time.

My second child had sent me a link to the "Les Miserables" trailer way back in the summer of 2012. And every new movie trailer that came out after that was played over and over and over again.

So when finally "Les Miserables" opened, my family and I couldn't wait to see the movie. We would have taken a trip to go the AMC Dine-in Theatre on Christmas Day -- but family tradition of having Christmas Day at home remained a tradition (and what an amazing Christmas we had this year!)

The day after Christmas was when we all watched "Les Miserables"...and we haven't stopped singing "Do You Hear The People Sing".

Last year when my father passed away in the Philippines, I went home and took some time to visit the U.S. Embassy in Manila to ask what the options are for my mother to return to the U.S. The consul reminded me of the 10-year travel ban. That on or after November 8, 2015 — not earlier – or 10 years after my mom, was deported in 2005 for overstaying her visa, I can email the U.S. Embassy and inquire about my mother’s approved petition. I asked if I need to file another petition, and she informed me I didn’t have to. I asked if I could… and she stopped me and said to ask everything on or after November 8, 2015. This is where I am, and where my thoughts are drifting as I celebrate this month my 16th American birthday. I am counting the months, the weeks and the days. My daughter is getting married in January 2016 and I would love to have my entire family, especially my mother, to be here when that momentous occasion happens.

In line with my goal for this month is to get back on schedule. I got up around 4am to get my 15yo ready for his Model United Nations conference.
