Completed 3 Weeks of the 6 Weeks to Summer Challenge from SELF.com | Strength Work-out Videos ARMS, LEGS, BUTT & ABS

Do you need to sign-up for a challenge to get yourself on a work-out routine? Well, I do. I don’t consider myself as a personal trainer. I am, however, your cheer leader or your work-out buddy. I don’t have the physique of a body builder or that of a bikini competitor BUT I love what exercise does for my body. And with that I can say that I am “confidently fit”. Over the years (more like a decade now), I learned that what you eat (nutrition) plays a BIG part in weight loss/gain or in being healthy.  (And yes, I completed a nutritional rebalancing challenge, too.)

Our glutes are an important muscle group.  It’s not just about fitting nicely into our favorite jeans. Our backside consists of three major muscles that are incredibly important to our hips – whether we’re extending, flexing or rotating. However, since most of the hours of our day are spent sitting, our glutes weaken, and sometimes our muscles atrophy, which may result in back pain and knee pain.

This was me at 40. (Thanks to P90) I’m at a stage in my life where my muffin tops don’t bother me that much, but what bothers me is that my arms, thighs and legs are being attacked by fat cells ~ cellulite. It’s pretty bad depending on how the sun hits my skin. And the mirrors at home are unforgiving, too…and they all decided to congregate in my body without advance warning. It sounds so vain, but my family also has a history of heart problems. Heart attacks and surgeries at a young age (40 something). It could be the yummy fried Filipino foods or just genetics. I’m a writer (well, hoping to get my first book published this year and love to talk to my family and friends in the Philippines through FaceBook and Yahoo Instant Messenger) which means I’m on the computer a lot --- so gaining weight is an occupational hazard!
