Funtime with the family in a historic place

I've been offline (and will be on and off for the next few months to deal with some pressing projects and issues) but I would like to say thank you to those who tirelessly pray and give me well wishes and to those who came to visit and left such sweet comments. Your support and presence truly mean a lot to me. I will be responding to your emails and comments soon.

Before I share my week with you, I would like to say thank you to the men and women who selflessly serve this great nation of ours so that we can enjoy the freedom that we sometimes take for granted. (Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!)

Thanks to our RCI timeshare, we had a fun and relaxing Independence Day week in Williamsburg, Virginia. ( A much needed change of scenery!)

We stayed in the resort most of the days just hanging by the pool, reading a book, writing and just chatting with the family. We're so happy to have honey's parents with us, too, especially since Dad had his heart attack a few months ago.


I saw some families gathered together and having fun - a sight that made me miss my families in the Philippines. I was able to call them overseas and followed-up on Dad's battle with painful gout and other health issues. I remember the times when we used to one big family! Someday, I say to myself, someday we can all be together again!


Being in Williamsburg, Virginia made me realize how lucky we truly are. We visited various historic sites that made this nation, a great nation!


You should read and review the Declaration of Independence. (If you have HBO, check if you can watch the John Adams story)

Everyday despite the chaos, there's always something to be thankful for!

Being in Virginia, we also had some time to be upside down! I don't know about you but after my 3rd child, I can't seem to get into those roller coaster without getting nauseous.


At Busch Gardens, my 8yo was so excited to finally able to go on the big-kid rides such as the Big Bad Wolf and Loch Ness Monster.


After one ride in the Big Bad Wolf roller coaster, I had to skip the rest of the roller coaster fun. My 8yo and 13yo went three times at least on each of the roller coasters. There were no lines, can you believe that?




This is one of the rides, Loch Ness Monster, that my 8yo and 13yo went on. Just looking at how it goes upside down made me queasy. ( And I was on Coney Island's Cyclone so many times when I was younger !)



We ended the day with the acrobat and musical show, Kinetix. It started to rain but we stayed and watched the entire show anyway. It was truly fun! We couldn't get over how amazing the acrobats and gymnasts were!




Visiting Virginia won't be complete without Jamestown Settlement. We all had a quick brush of history of the people who founded Jamestown and the Virginia Indians that they encountered. We boarded replicas of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia in 1607, and had an awesome and memorable time exploring the colonists' fort and a Powhatan village. The kids were so thrilled to experience what it was like to live in those times but wouldn't trade the golden ages especially when they saw how the settlers used to wash their clothes!
(Note Disney fans, Pocahontas did not marry John Smith!)



The Manor House at the Powhatan Plantation resort was a treat for me and my 8yo. We roamed inside the restored and refurnished house. My 8yo touched every single item in the house! There is a picture in the foyer whose eyes follow you whenever you go!




Williamsburg, VA is the location of The College of William and Mary . What a beautiful campus! The college is also part of the Ghost Tour. Pretty interesting and creepy ghosts in Williamsburg!


The resort is occupied by families of geese. My 8yo's goal is to pet one of the geese.



He slowly walked to the lake but the geese jumped into the lake and away from my 8yo!


I can't blame them, it was one hot sunny day! I could use a swim myself!


Finally, my 8yo spotted another family of geese.


He tried his best to get their attention ...


But the geese are so much quicker than my "Speedy Gonzales"! (BTW, My 8yo said although he would have loved to be in South Pacific, a week in Virginia was one of his favorite vacation!)




It was definitely one enchanting vacation! I missed my two older kids who couldn't come with us. (They sure miss me because they begged me to make them lunch today, haha!)

    You guys look like your having a great time. We've been to Williamsburg with the kids and went to several of the places you mentioned. I love going to historic places and seeing how people lived.

Last year when my father passed away in the Philippines, I went home and took some time to visit the U.S. Embassy in Manila to ask what the options are for my mother to return to the U.S. The consul reminded me of the 10-year travel ban. That on or after November 8, 2015 — not earlier – or 10 years after my mom, was deported in 2005 for overstaying her visa, I can email the U.S. Embassy and inquire about my mother’s approved petition. I asked if I need to file another petition, and she informed me I didn’t have to. I asked if I could… and she stopped me and said to ask everything on or after November 8, 2015. This is where I am, and where my thoughts are drifting as I celebrate this month my 16th American birthday. I am counting the months, the weeks and the days. My daughter is getting married in January 2016 and I would love to have my entire family, especially my mother, to be here when that momentous occasion happens.

In line with my goal for this month is to get back on schedule. I got up around 4am to get my 15yo ready for his Model United Nations conference. (Thankful that our neighbor offered to drive him to school by 5:30am ) I got my 9yo ready for school and I'm thankful that my other neighbor offered to drive him to school. I then drove my husband to the train station to Manhattan. I decided to stop by the Community Center and decided to run a fast 5K on the treadmill. I was 1 mile short because I was so sweaty and hot.
